New York State Education Department (NYSED) has developed a system of rigorous data quality, compliance, and logic checks to ensure that reported data are up to date and accurate to the maximum extent possible. The information on DATA.NYSED.GOV represents the best available data submitted to NYSED by public school districts and charter schools throughout the school year as part of that system. NYSED expects submitted data to be regularly reviewed and verified by districts and charter schools until the close of the current school year collection in the state data warehouse, annually on the third Friday of August. In addition, school district superintendents, and charter school leaders are required to certify within two weeks of the close of the current school year data collection, that processes are in place at the local level to review data accuracy and quality.
Data published on the public data site provides a wide range of information about students, educators, finance, classroom, and others. NYSED is legally required by federal and state statue, and commissioner regulations for data to be reported and made publicly available for transparency and to assist users to make informed educational decisions. Users of the data agree not to misuse, add to without permission, or misrepresent the data provided in any way.
NYSED is not liable to any party for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, or lost profit resulting from any use or misuse of this data. Additionally, NYSED is not liable for any inaccurate data.
No person, entity, or user shall use the information in a manner that is in violation of any federal, state, or local law or regulation, including, but not limited to FERPA and New York State Education Law §2-d.
